While going through peri-menopause has anyone else experienced loss of menses for over 3 months that returned ?

I was reading an article on the web the other day about a woman that got pregnant that not had periods for two years. I had a hysterectomy, so I don't have personal experience, but friends of mine miss periods for sometimes three years before finally reaching menopause.
