Is Marilyn Manson was influenced by Malice Mizer?

Formerly, before released 'Antichrist Superstar', Marilyn Manson was nothing more than a shock rock band, with no gothic look onstage. But since they released 'Smells Like Children', their onstage looks started to change. They became somewhat gothic. And when they release 'Antichrist Superstar', they had totally changed. I mean, they had mixed their shock rock musical style with industrial and gothic rock. Onstage they're look so gothic. My brother said it because they were influenced by a J-Rock band namely Malice Mizer. Is that true?
