Who agrees that Medieval Catholicism was right in declaring it sufficient to take communion once per year?

Catholicism never had the right to declare anything. They ignore the fact that the common man has access to God through direct prayer, and that all men have the capacity to read the Bible and worship as they see fit according to the beliefs it stirs in them. If every Catholic read the Bible and all came to the conclusion that communion should be done once a year, then fine, but I can never condone a group calling themselves Christian which has a weirdo in a pointy hat make such broad sweeping decrees about what is right and wrong for worship. Jesus only said "Do this in remembrance of me" with regard to communion; he could have simply meant that Christians should all try to eat together when they can, as the Last Supper was a fairly normal meal for the time. Read the Bible if you believe in it. The decrees of Pope's and cardinals mean nothing when they have no true basis in the Word.
