Is there FREE software that will help me download video from my computer to dvds?

My daughter-in-law sent me video of my granddaughter via email and I downloaded to my computer but would like to make a permenant copy of it on dvd because I'm afraid of my computer crashing. I have Sonic but it won't let me make anything but data files.
