Infection from thumbtack?

so, recently ive been having a seaonal related (i think) outbreak of cystic acne. lately they're gotten very large and for three of them i stuck an unsterilized thumbtack into them. After doing this a day before, i've been out of it and everyone around me has been telling me i've seemed out of it and in a haze. do you think this has anything to do with something on the tack, or an infeciton? btw im never doing the tack thing again, it hurt real bad
